If the athullenes,
With reference to your letter No.28754/1913, I am
directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to inform you that
careful search has been made amongst the records of
this Office with a view to throwing light upon the
discrepancy existing between the terms of the Treaty
of Nanking and the Letters Patent of April 5th 1843,
as regards the boundaries of the colony of Hongkong,
but that no information bearing on the point has been
forthcoming.

Sir E. Grey agrees with Mr. Secretary Harcourt
that it is not a matter of great importance and he
concurs in the terms of the reply which it is proposed
to return to Sir F. H. May's despatch.
The map enclosed in your letter is returned here-
